THE MISSION

The Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) was established by Congress to manage a $25+ billion portfolio of cutting-edge demonstration projects across America that include advanced nuclear, clean hydrogen, carbon management, industrial decarbonization, long-duration energy storage technologies, and demonstration projects in rural or remote areas and on current and former mine land. OCED works with private companies – including many Fortune 500 firms – to construct large-scale, next-generation projects that can span 10 years or more and is supported by a diverse group of bi-partisan political leaders, businesses, and local communities.

THE ROLE

As an entry-level professional at OCED, you will receive on-the-job training and work alongside experienced staff on large-scale clean energy demonstration projects. You’ll gain exposure to cutting-edge areas like hydrogen energy, advanced nuclear reactors, carbon management, and energy storage, all while developing technical, project management, and leadership skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with the oversight and execution of clean energy projects across diverse technological areas
• Support the development of project management processes and procedures
• Collaborate with team members to track project progress, ensure compliance, and troubleshoot issues
• Conduct research and analysis on energy technologies and market trends
• Help prepare reports, summaries, and presentations on project outcomes for internal and external stakeholders
• Engage with industry, government, and community stakeholders as part of the project teams

CANDIDATE PROFILE

• Recent graduates with degrees in engineering: mechanical, nuclear, chemical, civil, electrical, or environmental engineering preferred
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with a passion for clean energy and sustainability
• A desire to contribute to high-impact projects and solve complex challenges
• Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Eagerness to learn and grow in a mission-driven, results-oriented organization
• U.S. Citizenship is required
